Australian Open Attack Charge Withdraw

Prosecutors have pulled back a severe attack charge against 3 young people after an American specialist was assaulted and burglarized through the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The three 17-year-old young men on Tuesday confronted a youngsters' court in Melbourne, where a prosecutor requested that judge Amanda Chambers pull back a charge of deliberately causing severe damage in conditions of gross brutality.

"I have dismissed the charge ... because the prosecution is no longer based on this indictment," said the judge.

The young men will plead guilty next week to lesser charges in connection with January 17 raid by American surgeon Edmund Pribitkin.

Dr. Pribitkin was set in an instigated trance state after he was punched and kicked to the ground as he and his child strolled back to their inn after the tennis.
